Nicola’s personal love of the contemporary Japanese and Belgian design aesthetic - whether it be architecture, interiors, or fashion - has had a clear influence on her design process.
International opera singer Nicola Waite, frustrated with what she could find for herself, yet being a lover of “fashion” per se, launched her self-titled fashion label at the Mercedes Australian Fashion Week in May 2000. The Nicola Waite label was first sold through boutiques and department stores at both a national and international level, quickly establishing Nicola as one of several predominant Australian designers. Nicola designs imaginative and edgy collections that allow for an effortless form of dressing.
In July 2003, due to demand for a diffusion, & a casual collection, Nicola launched a sister label called nic. This new label, with its easy to wear, relaxed and uncomplicated pieces, was an instant success.
February 2006, Nicola made the decision to open the first Nicola Waite store in (Paddington) Sydney. Since then, other stores have opened, with two located in Melbourne and a beautiful store in Nicola’s hometown of Auckland, NZ.
Early in 2014 Nicola Waite decided to increase her offering by adding an online store. The move online has given customers access to more garment information as well as making the label available from any location, at any time.
Limited Edition Nicola Waite was born in 2014 out of Nicola's desire to add an exclusive, mini collection inspired by her love of architecture and interiors. The limited edition range offers a more abstract and dramatic take on modern dressing.

Today, the Nicola Waite brand continues to be at the forefront of cutting edge fashion in Australia, having a loyal and interesting customer base that continues to grow and diversify.
